Default Crane cams verus Screamin' Eagle

When used with the standard Htcc heads, how do the Crane HTC-290-2 or the Crane HTC-296-2 stack up against the Screamin' Eagle 251. The Htcc setup is going on my 2002 Road King this winter. And I would like good usable mid range torque. What would be the best choice? Or can you suggest some?

They are similar with the 251 coming in between the 290 and 296. On paper the 296 is closest to the 251 but the .620 will require checking the spring pack and clearances in the heads. The wide LSA of the 251 would suggest it to run best at higher rpms than the other two with the 290 giving best lower rpm tq peak.

Other contenders would be the Knightprowler TW8 or TW408, T-Man 590, S&S 585 or Red Shift 577. The TW8 being my favourite of these.
