Default New SERT?

Hi Mike,

I was at my local dealer the other day and they told me Harley will be releasing a new SERT called the SE Pro Super Tuner. Right now I'm contemplating which one to buy, the current version or wait for the new release. Have you had a chance to work with this new tuner yet? Will the maps you currently have available be compatible with this new tuner?

Now for a specific map question. Would you have something for a stock 2006 TC 88 FLSTNI with 25 deg injectors. I will be running 1.75 inch Rush muffs and either a SE AC or Doherty PACC? I Haven't decided which one of these AC's to buy. This would depend on what map, if any, you might have available. Thanks!

We have a match in the 4.6.2 version which could be converted to the new version file type. The map uses the SE air cleaner but will equally as well with the Doherty (both perform the same in our tests).

We have not used the SE Pro Super as it will not be released until late Feb. From what we've heard, I would wait to get the data logging capability. Having said that, the current version will work just as well if time is a concern.

Mike thanks for your quick reply!

Interesting about the air cleaner comparison. The SE air cleaner is a much cheaper solution for a stock TC 88. The dollars saved will be put toward the new Super Tuner if needed.

Seems like an overkill device for just an air cleaner/muffler swap, as I don?t anticipate any major engine mods in the future.

Think I?ll try the dealer download first, than if there are any lean burn issues I would probably get the Super Tuner. I hope there is a file conversion utility built into the software for the older maps, as I would definitely buy the 4.6.2 file you suggested for my combination.

Thanks again for the help you provide here!

We are told the Super Tuner does have an ability to convert maps from old to new but is more cumbersum than the old method (?). SERT can seem overkill, but when issues like heat or ping become apparent, it gives the ability to deal with them. The dealer downloads are available on the SERT CD , or versions of them, and so the $150.00 for one of them can be put toward the SERT purchase, still getting the download.

Thanks again Mike,

I'll be purchasing a SERT, but think I'll wait until people like you are using the new Super Tuner to learn more about it first. I do like the idea of data logging while riding without having to carry a laptop on the bike, plus the interface is USB.

Just installed the new version today. Different format, look and feel but essentially the same. Some nice features allowing more data to be displayed while tuning.

Yep, similar to earlier versions. After selecting the most appropriate new Pro Tuner cal, cut and paste the old cals' tables into it. Easier if both SERT version programs are open at the same time. I.E, do not delete your old version when installing Pro Tuner. Good news is that Pro Tuner does not write over the old version as earlier revisions did.

Mike,

Currently I don't have any tuning device, but will buy the new Pro Tuner this spring. I take it I need to download the older software so I can load the '06 TC map you have available for my setup? Than copy and paste these cals into the new Pro Tuner software?

Many thanks for your support!!

We'll convert the map. Just let us know what version you have when the time comes. Note that we do not recommend converting maps for different throttlebodies. I.E., we would not convert an 07 touring file to use on an 08 with ETC, or an 05 file to use on an 06. Better to start fresh.
